These are Swarovski cabochons, 8mm diameter. They're such a great colour, I doubt my cheapo camera and your rotten monitor can do justice to them! :-)
There's about 180 of them, I stopped counting when I got to 100, so that's a rough estimate... in case I short change you I'll send you a few others for good measure.
There's so many things you can do with these cabochons, and with this many you can let your creativity run free, especially at such a bargain price. Heck you could even use half of them and then sell the rest on eBay and likely make a profit.
Rings and broaches are obvious uses, but these make great decoration for textiles, ceramics (I'm not suggesting firing them, I don't know their melting point), papier mache, and other 2- and 3-dimensional art work.
You just have to see how the ruby colour shines out as the light catches it. Incidentally the packaging calls them 'Siam', which sounds a funny name for a colour to me, but maybe you know better.
They're round, quite highly domed, but not quite as domed as hemispherical -- I've tried to photo one of them side on so you can see that. The photo's a bit of a mish-mash because I was experimenting with a paint program and pasted some close-ups of the original packaging around the edge!
THESE ARE A BARGAIN.
They're described as 'Gold foil backed'. I assume that means the backing is gold coloured, which is true. Of course, you could take a gamble and imagine that it's real GOLD, in which case this is even more of a bargain than I was reckoning! Seriously though, I think the purpose of the backing is to increase the sparkle and luminosity of these lovely cabochons.
Visit my About Me page. :-( Well, on the preview that didn't work, I don't know what I did wrong, but if you click on the little 'me' symbol alongside johnwash1 it gets you there. This is only my second auction, the first (some turquoise beads) is still running, and by the time you read this I hope to have some more items up, similar interests.
The weight, including the paper wrapping, is about 50g, so packaging will take it over 60g, so I'm charging just 45p to cover postage. Or, if you prefer, I'll leave out a few, so as to get the postage down to 28p; after all, you'll still have masses more than you'll probably ever use.
If you think I've listed this in the wrong section, please contact me and let me know. Or same with any other suggestions.
