Snews, a newsreader for DOSYou can find more information about Snews in the latest readme.htm file. Hmmm, well, if you're a regular visitor, don't get too excited, I've not updated that file since Jan 2000. The file that I do keep updated is called mods.h and that's not only here on this web site but also in the .zip file you can download, so if you're not running an unmetered connection don't bother staying online to read it. Mods.h isn't a super-friendly piece of documentation for newbies, but if you've been using Snews for a little while it'll be worth browsing. It's in chronological order, listing the many various fixes and improvements that FoJLW (Friends of JLW!) have provided. Maybe there are bits that you don't immediately understand? In which case PLEASE don't spend time trying to figure it out. I really would welcome hearing from you, and I'll try both to answer your questions and use your much appreciated feedback to improve things so that someone else doesn't have the same struggle. Frankly, there aren't that many Snews users these days, at least that I'm aware of, so every contact is greatly appreciated and helps this small enthusiastic community. Just follow the "contact us" link at the head of this page.
If you're already an Snews user, you're probably looking for the download area, where I keep the latest public version, together with a whole load of older versions just in case you're a cyber-archaelogist (aka wierdo). And if you really are a wierdo, sorry, I mean respected academic cyber-historian :-) I suggest you grab those old files right now, because I don't promise to keep them here forever.
The beginnings of some miscellaneous ramblings concerning Snews. Further contributions welcome, or suggestions for topics. Hmmm, well that didn't exactly hit the spot, did it? I've had precisely no feedback, so I guess it's not a popular feature, and will be disappearing soon.
Snews utilitiesMail2SnzThis was written as a way of importing mail into Snews, to overcome the limitations in PcElm. I'm very happy with it as a solution, but now that Demon have released the PcElm source and Simon is doing some superb work on its successor (PcOak), it's a more difficult choice.
Prune
